Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, met on April 16, 2026, in Washington, D.C., with Mrs. Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
During this meeting, the Minister praised the quality and strength of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the EBRD, marked by sustained investment momentum. She emphasized the importance of consolidating this cooperation in order to support sustainable growth, strengthen the resilience of the national economy, and create more employment opportunities.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to review projects currently under preparation. On this occasion, the Minister highlighted the strategic importance of the project portfolio of public establishments and enterprises (EEP), as a key lever to boost investment and support the Kingdom’s development priorities.
In this regard, the Minister invited the EBRD to operationalize the newly agreed contractual mechanism, based on the adoption of the guarantee provided by Tamwilcom as a guarantee equivalent to a sovereign guarantee for the financing of EEP. She stressed that this development constitutes a major step forward in implementing the reform of the public guarantee framework and will promote more efficient mobilization of financing in support of public investment.
The discussions also covered the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom, particularly in the modernization of the public sector and the development of the financial sector, as well as prospects for mobilizing financing to serve Morocco’s strategic priorities.
The Minister also expressed Morocco’s interest in enhanced support from the EBRD, particularly in terms of technical assistance.
The President of the EBRD commended the progress achieved by the Kingdom and reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to continuing its support to Morocco in the implementation of its structuring projects.
At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to further elevate the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the EBRD, in line with the Kingdom’s development priorities and their shared ambitions for sustainable and inclusive growth.
