The forum, organized by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the (UAE) Ministry of Financial Affairs, addressed a range of topics. This includes macroeconomic developments and their implications for the fiscal situation, options for fiscal policy design in the face of growing debt pressures, fiscal policy and climate change resilience, and renewing tax systems to cope with major structural economic changes.

On this occasion, the Minister gave a presentation on the theme of “Fiscal policy and resilience in the face of climate change”, in which she spoke of the Kingdom of Morocco's experience in this field. Madame Nadia FETTAH recalled the Kingdom of Morocco's commitment, under the enlightened leadership of his majesty king Mohammed VI, to environmental and climate issues.

In this context, the Minister reviewed strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change on the national economy, which have been implemented in a proactive approach, in response to Morocco's national and international commitments, including the National Climate Plan 2020-2030. This program focuses primarily on promoting green innovation, and the preparation of the “Morocco 2050 Long-Term Low-Carbon National Strategy” aimed at laying the foundations for low-carbon development.

The Minister also chaired the fourth session of the Forum, which was devoted to the renewal of tax systems to cope with major structural economic changes, as well as revenue mobilization needs to help finance increased spending, and how to use artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of tax systems.

The ninth Arab Public Finance Forum brought together a number of Arab finance ministers, the Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in the presence and with the participation of a number of central bank governors, as well as officials, senior civil servants and experts from regional and international financial institutions.

The Public Finance Forum in the Arab States is a platform for the exchange of visions, expertise and successful government experiences in addressing various challenges in the Arab world, in particular fiscal policy issues and prospects for economic and financial development.
