Mrs. Faouzia ZAABOUL, Director of the Treasury and External Finance, took part, Thursday, October 31, 2024, in the BimaLab Africa Insurtech 2024 summit organized under the theme “Catalysing Inclusive Growth: Pioneering Insurtech Solutions for Africa's Financial Landscape”.
Also taking part in the Summit were Mr. Simon Martin CMG, UK Ambassador to Rabat, Mr. Abderrahim Chaffai, Chairman of the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare, Mr. Kelvin Massingham, Director of Risk and Resilience at FSD Africa and Mr. Nicolas Christinet, Head of North Africa Region at SWISS RE.
In her speech, read on behalf of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Faouzia ZAABOULA stressed the importance of innovation in building a more resilient, accessible financial system, better adapted to the needs of African populations.
She pointed out that insurtech solutions, combining technological advances and financial services, are important levers for facilitating access to insurance products and improving financial inclusion.
In recent years, the insurance sector has made a number of advances that have strengthened its role in socio-economic development.
However, even greater expectations rest on this sector to close the gaps in protection and offer coverage that is accessible to the needs of all Moroccans.
Mrs. ZAABOUL also pointed out that the public authorities are making considerable and constant efforts to stimulate inclusive growth and encourage innovative initiatives. By way of illustration, she cited the Innov Invest Fund set up to finance startups and innovative projects, helping to create a dynamic and balanced ecosystem to stimulate entrepreneurship in Morocco, particularly in the technology sectors.
Finally, the Director emphasized that support for innovation should not be limited to financial aspects alone, but should also include coaching for entrepreneurs to build capacity to promote a culture of entrepreneurship among young people, and to foster the emergence of a generation of innovators capable of meeting tomorrow's challenges.
