Participation of the Minister in the high-level roundtable on the theme "Climate finance to achieve a sustainable transformation"

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, participated, Sunday, April 30th 2023 in the high-level roundtable organized by the Arab Monetary Fund in cooperation with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. This event is held under the theme "Climate Finance to Achieve Sustainable Transformation", on the sidelines of the Joint Annual Meetings of the Arab Financial Institutions, which our country hosted, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, on Saturday, April 29th 2023, in Rabat.

The Minister intervened at the introductory session of the roundtable, during which she discussed the public policies to be conducted in terms of climate financing to support a sustainable transition, particularly by providing the necessary financial resources to accompany and support climate change by developing countries, especially Arab and African countries.

The Minister also intervened at the first session of this roundtable on the theme of "the comprehensive approach of the State and the economy in the process of climate change". She reviewed the experience of the Kingdom of Morocco in facing the challenges posed by climate change in accordance with the royal directives of His Majesty, may God assist him. During this session, the discussion focused on the importance of a comprehensive approach to address the challenge of climate change, and the proposed policies and tools to coordinate the intervention of governments, financial institutions and the private sector to develop coherent policies in the field of climate.

The high-level roundtable, chaired by the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Monetary Fund, was attended by a number of Arab finance ministers, governors of Arab central banks, heads of Arab financial institutions, and representatives of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the European Central Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Participants in this important roundtable unanimously welcomed the experiences of Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Morocco, in the field of climate finance and the challenge of sustainable transition, and called for redoubling efforts, sharing successful experiences and providing support to reduce the impact of climate change on the sustainability of the development path.
