The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohamed Boussaid took part May 11th and 12th 2014 in Amman, Jordan, at the High Level Conference organized under the patronage of the Jordanian Prime Minister, Mr..Abdullah Ensour, of the Director General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Mr. Abdlatif Al Hamad and the General Director of the International Monetary Fund, Mrs. Christine Lagarde.
Held under the theme " Building the Future: Employment , Growth and Equity in the Arab world," the conference was an opportunity for Mr. Boussaid to participate in regional dialogue between senior managers and directors of private and public sector, development partners as well as representatives of civil society and academia , within the Arab world and other regions of the world.
From the debate on transparency and good governance in the Arab countries in transition, chaired by the Minister and in which participated a high-level panel consisting of regional and international experts, it was concluded that greater transparency and greater accountability are fundamental aspirations of the Arab countries in transition. These are also significant components to promote stronger growth and the benefits of which will be better shared.
The Amman conference was also an opportunity for Mr. Boussaid to present the exemplary experience of Morocco in the field of macroeconomic management and structural economic reforms for sustainable, inclusive and more employment-creating growth. In this regard, he highlighted bold reforms recently launched by Morocco to consolidate macroeconomic stability, namely the reform of the compensation system, the redesign of the Organic Budget Law and the modernization of the tax system.
Mr. Minister also highlighted the progress made by Morocco in the field of boosting private investment through continued improvements in the business environment and financial sector reform, as well as the promotion of youth employment and the fight against poverty.
