A senior delegation from the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform was sent to Washington to take part in the annual meetings of the world Bank and IMF, held October 17th to 21st 2019.
These annual Meetings bring together Governors from the World Bank and IMF. They address issues particularly relating to poverty reduction, economic development, global financial stability and international financing.
The joint development Committee of the World Bank and the IMF focused mainly on development in the global value chains era, human capital project, jobs and economic changes.
In their statement within the development Committee, member countries including Morocco, stated that the World Bank Group, besides its central position at the core of the global system for development financing, was called upon to provide member countries with financial support and technical assistance required to initiate reforms. These programs are aimed at providing greater integration in the global value chains and ensuring the success of the economic change process and the creataion of high quality jobs.
This event was an opportunity for the Moroccan delegation to hold bilateral meeting with Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva, New Director General of the IMF.
During these meetings, the Moroccan side repoted to Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva on the progress of the different steps to implement the annual meetings 2021 of the World Bank and the IMF in Marrakech. In addition, the Moroccan delegation stressed that Morocco is committed to make this event successful.
Moreover, the Moroccan delegation took part in a number of institutional meetings including in particular the meetings of the president of the World Bank Group and the Director General of the IMF, respectively with the African and Arab Governors.
Alongside these meetings, the Moroccan delegation held bilateral meetings with representatives from the European Committee in addition to African and Asian financial institutions and participated in various conferences organized on this occasion.
