Directorate of Competition, Prices and Compensation

The Directorate of Competition, Prices and Compensation (DCPC) is responsible for:

  • Developing the pricing policy and security stocks in coordination with the sectors and bodies concerned;
  • Conducting studies on anti-competitive practices as well as on economic concentrations and carrying out research on competition at national and sectoral levels, while taking into account the powers assigned to the bodies concerned in accordance with the legislative and regulatory texts in force;
  • Preparing draft legislative and regulatory texts relating to competition, prices, compensation and security stocks, while ensuring their implementation.

In addition to these duties, the DCPC is also responsible, in coordination with several ministerial departments, for monitoring the supply of domestic markets with widely consumed products. To this end, it oversees several supply committees, including:

  • The Interministerial Committee responsible for controlling and monitoring prices and the supply situation in the domestic market;
  • The Interministerial Committee responsible for allocating subsidized flour quotas among the Kingdom's provinces and prefectures;
  • The Supply Committee for the Southern Provinces.

The Directorate also provides the secretariat for the Interministerial Price Committee (CIP), responsible for validating regulated prices, and for the Price Homologation Committee, which validates homologated prices.

With regard to price monitoring, the Directorate is required to monitor changes in international market prices of imported essential products (petroleum, sugar and flour), as well as the prices of widely consumed products (consumer price index produced by the HCP) and the prices of regulated and homologated products.
