Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, participated, on June 30, 2026, in several activities organized as part of the first official visit to Morocco of Mrs. Nadia Calviño, in her capacity as President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group.
Participation of the Minister in the ceremony for the signature of the Joint Signature and Cooperation Declarations relating to two financing agreements for the benefit of ONCF and ADM
The Minister, alongside Mrs. Nadia Calviño, President of the EIB Group, chaired, at the headquarters of her department, a ceremony for the signature of the Joint Signature and Cooperation Declarations relating to two financing operations granted to the National Railway Office (ONCF) and the National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM).
The signed Declarations concern the following two operations:
- An EIB loan amounting to €50 million, accompanied by a European Union grant of €15 million, intended to finance the project “ONCF - Railway Rehabilitation”; and
- An EIB loan amounting to €300 million, intended to finance the project “ADM - Motorway Resilience”.
On this occasion, the Minister commended the EIB’s commitment alongside Morocco, reflected in the financing of these two structuring projects, and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s determination to strengthen this strategic partnership in key sectors of the national economy.

Bilateral meeting between the Minister and the President of the EIB Group

The Minister of Economy and Finance received, at the headquarters of her Department, Mrs. Nadia Calviño, President of the EIB Group, on the occasion of her first official visit to Morocco in her capacity as President of the Bank.
This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the excellence of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the EIB, which has supported the country’s economic and social development efforts for nearly 50 years.
On this occasion, the Minister commended the EIB’s continued commitment alongside Morocco through the financing of several reforms and structuring projects in strategic sectors.
The two parties also reviewed the main operations currently under appraisal, as well as the signing prospects planned for the year 2026, reflecting the dynamism and diversity of cooperation between the Kingdom and the Bank.
The discussions also addressed the prospects for strengthening the Morocco-EIB partnership within the framework of the New Pact for the Mediterranean and the Strategic Partnership between Morocco and the European Union.
In this regard, the discussions highlighted the importance of further consolidating this cooperation, particularly in the areas of energy transition, sustainable water resource management, resilient infrastructure, and support for the private sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties reiterated their commitment to working jointly to strengthen the Morocco-EIB partnership in support of the Kingdom’s major development priorities.
Participation of the Minister in the EIB event “Together in Rabat for 20 years, partners for nearly 50 years”

The Minister participated in the event organized by the EIB under the theme “Together in Rabat for 20 years, partners for nearly 50 years”.
On this occasion, the Minister took part in a Fireside Chat with Mrs. Nadia Calviño. During this exchange, the prospects for strengthening cooperation in the field of investment, the levers for mobilizing the private sector, and the modalities for supporting Morocco’s development priorities were discussed.
During this Fireside Chat, the Minister recalled the positive momentum of the country’s main macroeconomic indicators, confirming the strength of the Kingdom’s economic fundamentals.
She also highlighted the investment priorities for the coming years and referred to the major reforms undertaken by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s economic resilience and enhancing its attractiveness.
The Minister also emphasized the essential role of the private sector as a strategic partner in the Kingdom’s economic transformation. On this occasion, she presented the Government’s expectations regarding the strengthening of its contribution to economic development and the implementation of reforms. She also underscored the important role played by the EIB in this regard and called for its further consolidation within a framework of shared added value.
The dialogue also highlighted the significant contribution of financial institutions, particularly European ones, in accelerating the Kingdom’s major economic transformation projects, in support of high-impact projects in the energy, infrastructure, and water sectors. It also made it possible to identify concrete avenues for deepening cooperation, particularly with regard to investment mobilization and coordination with the Team Europe initiative.
At the conclusion of this Fireside Chat, both parties expressed their shared ambition to deepen their strategic partnership and open up new prospects for cooperation, particularly within the framework of the New Pact for the Mediterranean.
