Meeting between the Director of the Treasury and External Finances and Mrs. Francisca TATCHOUOP BELOBE, Commissioner for Economic Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry and Mining of the African Union

Mr. Mohammed Tarik BCHIR, Director of the Treasury and External Finances, received, on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Her Excellency Mrs. Francisca TATCHOUOP BELOBE, Commissioner in charge of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry and Mining at the African Union.

​This meeting took place as part of a three-day working visit organized from June 8 to 10, 2026, in response to the invitation extended to Ms. BELOBE by Mr. Ryad MEZZOUR, Minister of Industry and Trade.


During this meeting, the Director reaffirmed the Kingdom of Morocco’s constant commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation, in accordance with the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, based on African cooperation that is supportive, pragmatic and mutually beneficial.


In this context, the Director and Mrs. BELOBE welcomed the excellence of the relations and ties of cooperation and friendship that unite the Kingdom of Morocco and the African Union.


In this regard, Mrs. BELOBE presented the main strategic priorities of her department, placing particular emphasis on initiatives aimed at accelerating the economic development and integration of the African continent. She notably outlined the progress made regarding the legal instruments governing the African Union’s Financial Institutions, highlighting their decisive role in strengthening the continental financial architecture and mobilizing the resources required for the implementation of the Union’s development objectives.


She also underscored the importance of these institutions for strengthening Africa’s financial autonomy, promoting investment and supporting the priorities set out in Agenda 2063.


This meeting also provided an opportunity for Mrs. BELOBE to seek the support of the Kingdom of Morocco in the context of strengthening technical cooperation with the bodies of the African Union. In this regard, she expressed strong interest in the Moroccan experience and wished to draw inspiration from the best practices developed by the Kingdom in the areas of development financing, entrepreneurship promotion and strengthening economic inclusion.
