As part of the development of the National Strategy for the Blue Economy (NSBE) in Morocco, a high-level workshop was held in Oualidia, bringing together representatives from the public and private sectors as well as experts to discuss key aspects of the strategy.
Organized in the form of a collaborative Blue Lab, this workshop served as a space for collective intelligence dedicated to building a shared strategic vision for the blue economy in Morocco.
At the heart of the discussions was the ambition to position the blue economy as a key driver of sustainable growth, job creation, and the preservation of marine and coastal resources.
The work focused on the main pillars required for the operationalization of this strategy, including:
- Defining an integrated and coherent national vision;
- Developing and strengthening value chains;
- Improving governance and coordination mechanisms;
- Identifying strategic planning tools;
- Mobilizing financing and investments.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to present the architecture of the future NSBE, structured around hubs, clusters, strategic pillars, and areas of intervention, covering the entire Moroccan coastline.
The conclusions and recommendations from this workshop will contribute to the ongoing work, with the ambition of translating this vision into concrete and impactful actions. Morocco thus reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable, inclusive, and forward-looking blue economy.
