Minister of Economy and Finance takes part in the regional seminar on cybersecurity

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, took part on Monday, September 15, 2025, in the opening session of the regional seminar on cybersecurity devoted to digital sovereignty, a central theme that conditions both trust in digital services, the protection of strategic data, and the competitiveness of economies.

In her address, the Minister recalled that digital sovereignty now constitutes an economic, strategic, and political imperative, serving competitiveness, national independence, and the trust of citizens, investors, and international partners. Several priorities were highlighted: the inclusion of SMEs in the opportunities offered by digitalization, support for local innovation through startups and fintechs, and the green transition in favor of sustainable digital infrastructures. Investment in human capital, particularly in skills related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science, was also emphasized as a fundamental pillar.

Furthermore, Mrs. FETTAH indicated that the digital infrastructures of the Ministry of Economy and Finance constitute one of the foundations of the national economy and public administration, ensuring the mobilization of the State’s financial resources, and that cybersecurity plays a decisive role in guaranteeing their protection and resilience. In this regard, she highlighted the progress made by the Ministry, notably the establishment of a solid governance framework for information systems security and the creation, in 2025, of a Directorate dedicated to Information Systems Security Governance, thus reflecting the Department’s commitment to strengthening the management of digital risks and consolidating trust in public digital services.

The Minister finally stressed the need for enhanced international cooperation, noting that no country can meet alone the challenges posed by a borderless cyberspace. She called for greater sharing of best practices, international solidarity in the fight against cybercrime, and mutual support in skills development.

This seminar, organized by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) in partnership with several regional and international organizations, brought together government officials, experts, and economic actors around the strategic challenges of cybersecurity and digital technology.
