The Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Mr. Fouzi LEKJAA, receives Mr. Ousmane DIONE, Vice-President of the World Bank for the MENA region.

The Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Mr. Fouzi LEKJAA, received Mr. Ousmane Dione, Vice-President of the World Bank for the MENA region, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on Wednesday February 26, 2025.

​During the meeting, Mr. LEKJAA and Mr. Dione expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the fruitful partnership between Morocco and the World Bank Group, and discussed the prospects for future cooperation, particularly in the context of the Kingdom's preparations to host the 2030 Football World Cup and the related major infrastructure projects.

In this context, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget emphasized that the structural reforms and sectoral strategies launched by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of his majesty king Mohammed VI, May God assist him, have boosted Morocco's economic development while strengthening the foundations of the social State, thanks in particular to the significant advances made in rail and sports infrastructure, social protection, sustainable development and territorial balance.

Mr. LEKJAA also stressed the priority given by the Moroccan government to preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup, with a view to maximizing the positive impact of this event on the Kingdom's growth and development dynamic, particularly in the fields of employment, entrepreneurship, tourism, craftsmanship and transport.

For his part, the World Bank's Vice President for the MENA region praised the quality of the cooperative relationship between the World Bank Group and Morocco, reflected in the diversity of the projects supported by the Bank and their significant impact on the Kingdom's socio-economic development,

He also welcomed the significant efforts made by Morocco in key areas such as social protection, territorial development and infrastructure.

Mr. Dione also reiterated the World Bank Group's commitment to supporting Morocco in its preparations for the 2030 Football World Cup, with the aim of transforming the planned investments and infrastructure projects into levers for job creation, improved competitiveness and economic growth for the country.
