Minister attends joint annual meetings of Arab financial authorities

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, headed, May 22 and 23, 2024, the Moroccan delegation attending the annual joint meetings of Arab financial authorities held in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.

​The meetings, attended by the governors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Arab Monetary Fund, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, the Arab Corporation for the Guarantee of Investment and Export Credit and the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, approved the annual reports on the activities of the Arab financial bodies for 2023. In addition, these annual joint meetings ratified their final accounts, in addition to discussing a number of points related to the evaluation of the performance and working strategies of these bodies.

In this context, the Minister chaired the meeting of the 15th session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers, devoted to the study of a series of subjects of a financial and economic nature, in the presence of representatives of Arab financial bodies and regional and international organizations.

On this occasion, Mrs. Nadia FETTAH delivered an opening speech on behalf of the Arab Finance Ministers. She stresses the importance of the Council's role as a communication platform enabling the region's Finance Ministers to discuss the challenges facing Arab economic and financial decision-makers, exchange successful experiences, coordinate positions on international and regional economic developments, and exchange views with international and regional financial institutions and groupings.

The session featured a number of presentations by representatives of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The focus, in this event, was on climate change, debt in the context of geopolitical developments and other risks to Arab tax policies, as well as efforts to digitize taxation and expand the tax space.

In addition, the Minister participated, Thursday May 23, 2024, in a high-level roundtable organized by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), the IMF and the World Bank on the theme "Improving responsiveness and capacity to cope with shocks and promote growth, and the role of economic and macro-prudential policies".
