The opening ceremony was initiated by the Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Mr. Mathias Cormann, and the Japanese Prime Minister. In her address at the first session, Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, recalled the milestones achieved by Morocco in building the welfare State, under the High Guidance of his majesty. This includes the Royal Social Protection Project, as well as the major advances made in promising sectors (green energy, automotive, etc.) and in international and regional integration, particularly in Africa.
On this occasion, Mrs. FETTAH held a series of bilateral meetings with the OECD Secretary-General and senior OECD officials, as well as with several ministers and representatives of international and regional organizations. A number of topics were discussed, in the context of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas of common interest.
The theme of MCM 2024, chaired by Japan and co-chaired by Mexico and the Netherlands, is "Creating the momentum for change together: Leading global debates with objective and reliable approaches to support sustainable and inclusive growth". This meeting is an opportunity for member and non-member countries to engage in high-level discussions on the decisive issues facing the international community today.
