The Minister of Economy and Finance Mrs. Nadia FETTAH received Mr. Cheick-Oumar SYLLA, the Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), who is on a working visit to Morocco from January 29th to February 2th 2024.
During this meeting, Mrs. FETTAH and Mr. SYLLA reviewed the main cooperation projects between Morocco and the IFC and means of supporting this body's commitment to Moroccan economic operators.
On this occasion, Mrs. FETTAH thanked the IFC for more than 60 years of support and guidance in developing the Moroccan private sector, and strengthening its role as a driver of investment and job creation.
In this regard, the Minister of Economy and Finance highlighted the important role IFC could play in supporting the Government's efforts with a view to the major sporting events Morocco is preparing to host in the coming years, particularly in port and airport infrastructure, railways, the financial sector, desalination and digital technology.
Thus, Mrs. FETTAH called on the IFC to strengthen its support for the Kingdom's major structuring projects, capitalizing on the institution's expertise in structuring PPP projects.
On the other hand, the IFC's Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa commended the quality of the cooperative relationship between the IFC and Morocco, framed by a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2021.
In this context, Mr. Cheick-Oumar SYLLA highlighted the IFC's readiness to continue supporting Morocco's efforts in a number of areas, including capital investment, SME development, renewable energies, infrastructure projects and regional development.
