Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the African Development Bank concerning the organization in Morocco of the 2023 edition of the Africa Investment Forum

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Mr. Vincent O. NMEHIELLE, Secretary General of the African Development Bank (ADB), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the organization in Morocco of the 4th edition of (the Africa Investment Forum "AIF”), scheduled for November 8-10, 2023, in Marrakech.

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Mr. Vincent O. NMEHIELLE, Secretary General of the African Development Bank (ADB), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the organization in Morocco of the 4th edition of (the Africa Investment Forum "AIF”), scheduled for November 8-10, 2023, in Marrakech.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Chinelo ANOHU, Senior Director of AIF at the AfDB, and Mrs. Faouzia ZAABOUL, Director of the Treasury and External Finance at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. On this occasion, Mrs. FETTAH emphasized that the choice of Morocco to host the 4th edition of the AIF reflects the excellent cooperative relations between the Kingdom and the AfDB, and confirms our country's position as a privileged destination for hosting major international events.

The Minister of Economy and Finance pointed out that the AIF is an ideal platform for encouraging investment in Africa and mobilizing financing for development projects in priority areas for the African continent. She stressed that this event will be an opportunity for Morocco to present a range of promising investment projects that are part of our country's development dynamic, under the impetus of the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him.

Meanwhile, Mr. NMEHIELLE thanked the Moroccan authorities for their commitment to the organization of the AIF, and praised the spirit of cooperation that prevailed between Moroccan government representatives and AfDB delegates during the preparatory meetings for the aforementioned Memorandum of Understanding.

The AfDB Secretary General also stressed the relevance of Morocco's choice to host this continental meeting, given the economic assets and investment opportunities offered by the Kingdom, whose development model has become a source of inspiration for several countries on the continent.

The Africa Investment Forum, created by the AfDB in 2018, is a platform for exchange between investors, experts and decision-makers from the public and private sectors on initiatives to advance investment projects to bankable stages, raise capital and accelerate the financial close of transactions. These objectives are pursued by reducing intermediation costs, improving the quality of project information and documentation, and strengthening commitments between investors and project promoters.
