The Minister of Economy and Finance received, June 15th 2023, a high-level delegation led by Mrs Mercy Tembon, Vice-President and Secretary General of the World Bank Group, and Mr Ceda Ogada, Secretary General of the International Monetary Fund. This event is part of the preparations for the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, scheduled to take place in Marrakech from October 09 to 15, 2023.
This visit comes within the context of a series of regular missions to Morocco by teams from the two international institutions to check on the progress of preparations for this major international event.
During the meeting, the Minister of the Economy and Finance reiterated the commitment of all stakeholders to ensure the success of this international event.
The Minister went on to say that these Assemblies were an opportunity for Morocco to present the structural reforms it has undertaken, as well as the various advances it has made, and debate and exchange views with international decision-makers and experts on ways of promoting international and regional cooperation.
The Minister also pointed out that these Annual Meetings, which mark their return to Africa after 50 years, represent a unique opportunity to bring Africa's voice to the two international institutions, and discuss subjects of interest to this region of the world.
For their part, the two senior officials of the international institutions expressed their complete satisfaction with the progress of the preparations, and were keen to highlight the quality and density of the collaboration between the Moroccan organization team and those of the World Bank and the IMF.
They expressed their satisfaction at the state of progress of the development of the site to host the 2023 Annual Meetings, and their enthusiasm for the forthcoming holding of this event in our country.
