Participation of Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, in the Seventh Arab Fiscal Forum

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, headed the Moroccan delegation that participated in the 7th Arab Fiscal Forum, held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, on February 12, 2023 under the theme "Fiscal Sustainability in the Arab World beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic: Challenges and Opportunities".

The forum, organized by the Arab Monetary Fund in partnership with the International Monetary Fund and the Ministry of State for Financial Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, addressed several topics. This includes macroeconomic developments and expectations, the importance of climate-related risks and opportunities, in addition to other risks related to public financial management, and the efforts of Arab countries in improving public revenue mobilization.

In this context, the Minister made a presentation on the theme "Climate Risk and Opportunity Management: Financial Policies and Climate Change", in which she discussed the Kingdom's experience and the measures taken to mitigate the risks of climate change by developing proactive strategies according to a forward-looking vision based on the optimal use of available resources.

Mrs. FETTAH also highlighted the importance of the ambitious projects launched by Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in the fields of renewable energy and water management, stressing, in this regard, the promising investment opportunities offered by these projects through innovative financing mechanisms, headed by the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment.

The Seventh Arab Fiscal Forum was attended by the Ministers of Finance of the Arab countries, the Director General, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Arab Monetary Fund, and the Director General of the International Monetary Fund. Governors of the Arab central banks and monetary institutions, as well as a number of chiefs and senior officials and experts of regional and international financial institutions took part in this event.

The Arab Public Finance Forum is a platform for exchanging visions, expertise and successful governmental experiences in dealing with the various challenges of the Arab world, especially fiscal policy issues and the prospects for economic and financial development.
