Participation of the Minister in the first meeting of the commission in charge of the pension reform

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, chaired, Wednesday, October 5th 2022 the first meeting of the commission in charge of the pension reform. The creation of this entity is part of the implementation of the conclusions of the Social Agreement and the National Charter of Social Dialogue, concluded last April 30, between the Government, the central trade unions and professional organizations and associations of employers

This first meeting was attended by representatives of the most important trade unions (the Moroccan Labour Union, the General Union of Moroccan Workers and the Democratic Confederation of Labour) and employers' professional organizations and associations (the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises and the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development).

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the relevant ministerial departments, the Insurance and Social Security Supervisory Authority, the Moroccan Pension Fund, the Collective Retirement Allowance Scheme and the National Social Security Fund.

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, in her opening speech, recalled that the creation of this commission emanates from the will of the Government, trade unions and employers' professional organizations and associations to launch the systemic reform of pension schemes in a framework of open and constructive dialogue between all partners. The objective is to set up a pension system with two poles "public" and "private", in accordance with the 2013 recommendations of the National Commission in charge of the pension reform.

In their speeches, the representatives of the trade unions and employers' professional organizations and associations welcomed this initiative and recalled their expectations regarding the objectives assigned to this project.

Within this framework, the Minister of Economy and Finance specified that this commission constitutes an essential lever for the resumption of the dialogue around this strategic project and an opportunity to exchange with the social partners on their expectations.

Thus, the participants validated the working approach and the timetable of the work of this commission that should result before the next round of social dialogue in a reform scenario and a roadmap for its implementation.

At the end of this meeting, Mrs. Nadia FETTAH thanked the participants for their involvement in this strategic project, which aspires to achieve a long process of reform with the establishment of a pension system with two poles, public and private, able to guarantee the rights of current and future affiliates.
