01/07/2022
On May 31, 2022, the International Budget Partnership Organization (IBP) published the results of the Open Budget Survey for the year 2021. The results of this survey, which is conducted every two years, indicate that Morocco has improved in terms of budget transparency, with a score of 48 points, compared to 43 points in 2019, 45 points in 2017 and 38 points in 2015.
As a result, Morocco's ranking has risen from 62nd out of a total of 117 countries in 2019 to 55th out of 120 countries covered by the survey for the year 2021. Compared to the MENA countries, the Kingdom ranks 2nd, after Jordan.
This improvement in budget transparency is the result of the reforms undertaken by Morocco in recent years, notably with the entry into force in 2016 of the Organic Law on the Finance Law, in addition to the continuous enrichment of economic, budgetary and financial information made available to parliament and the public, as well as regular communication on budgetary matters.
