Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance received, Wednesday, March 23rd 2022, Mr. David MALPASS, President of the World Bank Group, who is visiting Morocco from March 23rd to 24th 2022.
This meeting was an opportunity for the two officials to discuss: (i) the World Bank Group's commitment to support and accompany the economic and social development dynamics that Morocco is experiencing; and (ii) the preparation of the WBG and IMF Annual Meetings that will take place in Marrakech in 2023.
On this occasion, Mrs. FETTAH praised the quality of the long-standing exemplary partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the World Bank Group.
The Minister of Economy and Finance reviewed the main priority reform projects undertaken by Morocco to promote a dynamic recovery and strengthen the resilience of the economy, citing, in this regard, the economic recovery plan supported by the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, the generalization of social protection and public sector reform.
In this context, the World Bank was called upon to further strengthen its support, both financial and technical, for the reforms undertaken by the government.
Moreover, Mrs. FETTAH, while reaffirming the commitment of Morocco to successfully organize the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF in October 2023 in Marrakech, thanked the World Bank Group and the IMF for their confidence in Morocco for the organization of the Annual Meetings 2023, after a first postponement.
For his part, while stressing the World Bank's readiness to strengthen its support for Morocco's economic and social development efforts, Mr. MALPASS congratulated the Kingdom for its effective economic recovery strategy. At this level, he expressed the willingness of the World Bank Group to provide its financial and technical support to the various priority reform projects undertaken by the Kingdom.
Both officials have also reaffirmed their commitment and common will to succeed in organizing the Annual Meetings of the WB and the IMF, scheduled in Marrakech in October 2023.
