Meeting of Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance with Mr. Oliver VARHELYI - European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, received Wednesday, March 9th 2022 in her department, Mr. Oliver VARHELYI, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, who is visiting Morocco on 9 and 10 March 2022.

During this meeting, Mr. VARHELYI was accompanied by Mrs. Patricia Pilar LLOMBART CUSSAC, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Morocco, as well as the European Commission and Delegation of the European Union to Morocco representatives.

During this meeting, Mrs. FETTAH and Mr. VARHELYI, praised the excellent relations between Morocco and the European Union and reviewed issues of common interest, including economic and financial cooperation between Morocco and the European Union.

In this event, the Minister welcomed the effort of the European Union within the framework of its "Economic and Investment Plan", while stressing that the areas of cooperation identified for Morocco are fully in line with the priorities and orientations of the Government.

Similarly, the Minister recalled the importance of the financial support granted by the European Union to Morocco and invited the European Commission to further strengthen its commitments under the future programming 2021-2027.

In addition, the Minister also spoke of some of the priority projects undertaken by the Government in the social fields, including social protection, education and health. Discussions also focused on the strategies pursued by Morocco in terms of boosting domestic and foreign private investment, public sector reform and in the areas of energy and water transition.

At the end of the meeting, Mrs. FETTAH and Mr. VARHELYI reaffirmed their common will to further strengthen cooperation between Morocco and the European Commission and accelerate the implementation of programs approved in this framework.
