Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, presents the measures of the exceptional program aiming at mitigating the effects of the delay of precipitations

During a press briefing at the end of the Government Council, held, Thursday February 17th 2022, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, presented in detail the distribution of a budget of 10 billion dirhams (MMDH) to finance the exceptional program aiming at mitigating the effects of the rainfall delay, in application of the Royal Guidelines.

Mr. Lekjaa, explained that the funding of this exceptional program, developed by the executive, aims to reduce the impact of rainfall deficit on agricultural activity by supporting farmers and ranchers in difficulty.

He also specified that the allocated budget is made up of 3 MMDH as a contribution from the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development, 6 MMDH for the financing and restructuring of farmers' debts, especially small farmers who resort to borrowing each agricultural season, and 1 MMDH for crop insurance for the current agricultural season.

Mr. Lekjaa also stressed that 3 MMDH of this overall funding will be allocated to the financing of various agricultural activities impacted, including the livestock sector, by providing farmers with the necessary fodder at reasonable prices and medicines.

In addition, he stated that the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, will chair a meeting with the various ministerial departments involved to announce the implementation of this exceptional program as soon as possible, to ensure the effectiveness of its application and thus support this social category which contributes significantly to the growth of the national economy.
