The Minister of Economy and Finance participates in the Development Committee meeting

On the occasion of the 2021 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, participated on Friday, October 15th, 2021, in the 104th meeting of the Joint Development Committee (CD) of the WBG and the IMF.The Minister was accompanied, during that meeting, by Faouzia ZAABOUL, Director of the Treasury and External Finance.

On that occasion, in her capacity as Chair of the group of countries consisting of Morocco, Afghanistan, Algeria, Ghana, Iran, Pakistan and Tunisia, the Minister of Economy and Finance delivered a statement on themes relating mainly to the «Financing of the WBG for Green, Resilient and Inclusive Development» and to the « Role of the WBG in preventing, preparing and responding to future » crises.

In her statement, Nadia FETTAH thanked the World Bank for its considerable efforts to address the many challenges of the pandemic and appealed to the Bank to strengthen its commitments in the future, given the growing economic challenges facing developing countries.

In this context, the Minister recalled the essential role of the WBG in preventing, preparing and responding to future crises and invited the WBG to strengthen its support to member countries, mainly through concessional financing and appropriate technical assistance and advisory services.

The Minister of Economy and Finance took this opportunity to extend an invitation to the WBG and IMF member countries and the international financial community to participate in the 2022 Annual Meetings in Marrakech and reiterated the Kingdom of Morocco's commitment to take all necessary steps, in collaboration with the WBG and the IMF, to ensure the success of this important event.

As a reminder, the Development Committee meets twice a year, in conjunction with the WBG and IMF spring meetings in April and the annual meetings in October, to discuss key development issues, financial resource mobilization for developing countries, global trade and the environment.
