Within the framework of the 13th edition of the Hassan II Prize for the Environment, the Ministry of Economy and Finance – Department of Economy and Finance – along with the Administration of Reform was awarded the Hassan II Prize for the Environment, within the newly included category of "Optimal Management in Sustainable Development".
This achievement is the fruit of the efforts made by this department throughout
the previous years, principally in the wake of the speech of His Majesty the
King Mohammed VI – may God assist him– at the 22nd United Nations
conference on climate change, where an action plan was developed that gradually
translates into reality the sector’s commitment to implementing the contents of
the Charter “Optimal Management in Sustainable Development”. The program’s first
outcome was the establishment of a solar panel plant with an output of 300 kW –
as a first experiment– which contributes to covering the clean energy needs of
the central directories’ buildings by 75%. Sustainable transport has also been
supported through the gradual shift towards electric and hybrid vehicles, in
addition to the collection, sorting and recycling of all types of office waste.
The aforementioned award was presented by the Director of Administration
and Public Affairs during a ceremony held by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and
Environment - Department of Environment - under the chairmanship of the Head of
Government.
