During
this "virtual visit", Mrs. Odile Renaud-Basso, will also meet with
the Head of Government and other government officials as well as with
representatives of the national private sector.
At
the time of the video conference, while welcoming the quality of the relations
between Morocco and the EBRD, Mr. Benchaaboun
and Mrs. Renaud-Basso discussed topics of common interest, including: the
prospects for the development of financial and technical cooperation and the
institutional relations between the two partners.
Mr.
Benchaaboun recalled specifically the main priorities of the Kingdom of Morocco
in the context of the management of the current health crisis as well as the
recently initiated reforms relating to the Public Sector, following the High
Royal Guidelines. In this regard, the Minister invited the EBRD to continue and
further strengthen its support for financing the private and public sectors in
Morocco, in particular within the framework of the post-Covid recovery plan.
In
this context, Mr. Benchaaboun welcomed the decision of the Board of Governors
of the EBRD to organize its 31st Annual Meeting, scheduled for May
2022, in Marrakech - Morocco.
It
should be noted that Morocco as a founding member of the EBRD since 1991, was
granted the status of “beneficiary country” of the EBRD’s activities in
2013. At the end of 2020, the total
amount of the Bank’s portfolio in Morocco, in both the private and public
sectors, amounted to nearly €2.9 billion.
