The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohamed Benchaaboun, highlighted on Thursday, March 21st 2019, at a High-Level Conference in Brussels, Morocco's experience in the field of sustainable finance, highly appreciated in Africa as well as in other continents, particularly in Europe and Asia.

Morocco's participation in this event focused on " global approach to sustainable finance", and was an opportunity to stress the national achievements in this area, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, stated Mr. Benchaaboun "We made a presentation on Moroccan experience and highlighted its success and the fact that it was requested by a number of friendly countries in the African continent," noted the Minister.

The conference, he clarified, allowed exchanges of views particularly around the experience of solar power plants, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) and its agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Triple A initiative launched by Morocco to adapt African agriculture to climate change, and " the actions of the banking system and more recently the efforts by the capital markets authorities," as regards sustainable finance ".

He conclude that "the Moroccan experience was highly appreciated by the European Union and all participants in this conference, mainly Asian countries, such as Japan and India," which focus on Africa's positive contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions".

​The high-level conference on sustainable finance is held at the initiative of the European Union which, for this second edition, is aimed at promoting international cooperation and seeking synergies while demonstrating its commitment to establish a coherent international financial system able to direct private capital towards sustainable projects.
