The Minister of Economy and Finance congratulated Mr. MALPASS on his appointment as President of the World Bank Group and wished him all the success in his new duties.

On this occasion, Mr. BENCHAABOUN highlighted the first generation of reforms initiated by Morocco over the last two decades, which led to ensuring the political stability of the Kingdom, the strengthening of the rule of law and the reinforcement of institutions, as well as the development of public investments that helped to sustain economic growth and reduce poverty.

In addition, the Minister of Economy and Finance stated that a second generation of reforms is now initiated, as part of the debate on the new development model, with the aim of promoting job creation in the private sector, strengthening human capital and ensuring inclusive territorial development.

In this regard, Mr. Mohamed BENCHAABOUN indicated that the new Country Partnership Framework 2019-2024, adopted, February 19th 2019 by the World Bank's Executive Board, is in keeping with the Government's priorities. This framework should give new impetus to the fruitful cooperation relations linking Morocco and the World Bank.

On the other hand, Mr. David Malpass, President of the World Bank Group, congratulated Morocco for the reforms initiated before and indicated the Bank's willingness to support our country in its efforts to further reforms that can provide the basis for sustainable and equitable growth.

The meeting between the Minister of Economy and Finance and the President of the World Bank Group was also an opportunity to report on the the progress of preparations for the organization of the 2021 IMF and WB Annual Meetings in Marrakech. In this regard, Mr. BENCHAABOUN stressed that Morocco will make every effort to ensure the success of this important event.

​Following this meeting, both sides welcomed the quality of Morocco-World Bank cooperation and expressed their commitment to further strengthen these relations.
