Mr. Mohamed BENCHAABOUN, Minister of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform participates in the 7th seminar on cyber security

The Minister of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform took part, Tuesday, November 12th 2019, in the opening meeting of the 7th seminar on cyber security devoted to the theme of " Information Systems Outsourcing and Cybers ecurity Challenges". This event was organized by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) of the National Defense Administration.

During his speech, the Minister stressed our country’s major progress in the field of cyber security, thanks in particular to the government strategy on information systems security supported by the DGSSI.

The Minister stated, in this context, that significant efforts were made, in recent years, particularly in terms of regulatory upgrading in relation to international standards and best practices, together with the effective support of the DGSSI and the efforts in terms of monitoring, consulting, training and awareness raising among different stakeholders. These initiatives enabled to strengthen the level of maturity in the field of cyber security, and raise general awareness on the strategic importance of the security of information systems.

In addition, Mr. BENCHAABOUN stressed that, with the importance of information systems that support nearly all the professions and missions of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, the security of information systems was set as a key priority within the framework of its Strategic Action Plan 2017-2021.

In this respect, the Minister noted that a Governance Committee of the Ministry's Information Systems Security was created in 2017 to establish a roadmap of the security of information systems within the Ministry and to monitor its implementation. This roadmap comprises a number of additional projects that are currently being implemented at a steady pace and with the support of the various departments of the Ministry.

As for the theme of this seminar, Mr. BENCHAABOUN stated that the use of outsourcing solutions is widely recognized, particularly with regard to the hosting and outsourcing of the information systems. However, he pointed out that the risks that this appraoch involve must be carefully assessed and evaluated, particularly for so-called sensitive information systems.
