The Ministry of Economy and Finance considers the drafting of a framework law on taxation

Mr. Mohamed BENCHAABOUN, Minister of Economy and Finance, stated Monday, January 21st 2019 in Rabat, that his department is considering the development of a framework law on taxation in line with the Finance Law and providing a clear vision to achieve the objectives set in the field of taxation.

During the meeting of the Finance and Economic Development Committee in the House of Representatives on electronic invoicing, Mr. BENCHAABOUN stressed that a symposium is to be held in May on tax justice, similar to the one that will be organized by the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy next April on internal trade.

On this occasion, he reiterated that the e-invoicing system does not apply to local shopkeepers who are largely subject to the flat-rate system, noting that they are not required to report their turnover in their annual account.

In addition, he assured that the Ministry and its Directorates tried their best to clear up any misunderstandings around certain measures such as the company's common identifier that applies only to the company and not to the shopkeepers.

In turn, the representatives of parliamentary groups in the House of Representatives pointed out to the need to enhance trust in the institutions, particularly the legislative institution which serves the general public, specifying the constraints facing traders and professionals.
