Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, received Wednesday January 24th 2018, at the headquarters of his department, Mr. Pierre Heilbronn, Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development « EBRD » in charge of policies and partnerships, who is in an official visit to Morocco, From January 24th to 29th 2018.
During this meeting, Mr. BOUSSAID and Mr. HEILBRONN reviewed the various aspects of cooperation between Morocco and the « EBRD » and welcomed the quality of relations linking Morocco and the « EBRD », which is a key partner among the international financial institutions operating in our country.
Mr. BOUSSAID stressed the evolution of the activities of the EBRD in Morocco and the diversification of its portfolio which holds out the promise of good prospects for future cooperation between Morocco and the Bank.
He, also, urged the « EBRD » to further strengthen its intervention particularly with small and medium-sized entreprises and very small entreprises and to set a favourable local framework so as to support the Moroccan private sector in its national, regional and international development.
On the sidelines of this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding on the preparation of a co-financing product devoted to the green projects of small and medium-sized entreprises and very small entreprises was signed between the Minister of Economy and Finance and the Vice-President of the «EBRD ».
This project is part of the Ministry's commitment in terms of climate, during the COP 22, under the roadmap to ensure the alignment of the Moroccan financial sector on sustainable development.This memorundum thus reflects a new cooperation approach with donors which will support the mobilisation of new private funding and ensure that they are directed to the green economy projects of small and medium-sized entreprises and very small entreprises.
Mr. BOUSSAID and Mr. HEILBRONN reaffirmed their shared commitment to further boost cooperation between Morocco and the « EBRD ».
