Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, co-chaired, with his French counterpart, Mr. Michel SAPIN, Minister of Economy and Finance, the first ministerial meeting of the "Dialogue 5+5 Finances", held in Paris, January 24th 2017.
In addition to Morocco and France, the meeting was attended by the Ministers of Finance from the southern shore of the Mediterranean namely Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania, and those of the northern shore, namely Spain, Portugal, Italy and Malta.
Established at the 12th meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the "5 + 5" Dialogue held in Tangier, October 7th 2015, the financial contribution of this Dialogue is a platform for dialogue and sharing of experiences on major financial issues for the western Mediterranean region.
This event was an opportunity for the Ministers to initiate a collective discussion on the opportunities to promote cooperation in the fields of taxation, customs, financial transparency and the financial aspects of climate change. At the special session on the financial aspects of climate change, Mr. BOUSSAID presented the outlines of the outcomes of the COP 22, held in Marrakech in November 2016 and the initiatives launched by Morocco to promote a low-carbon economy. At the end of the meeting, a Ministerial statement was adopted providing ways of cooperation in the areas discussed.
