Symposium under the theme: "Which Development Model for Morocco to join the group of emerging nations "

​Under the chairmanship of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Association of Members of the General Inspectorate of Finance (AMIF) are organizing June 2nd and 3rd 2016, at the International conference Centre Mohammed VI in Skhirat, a symposium under the theme: "What Development Model for Morocco to join the group of emerging nations? ​ ​ ​

This conference is characterized by the presence of numerous personalities including the Head of Government, Mr. Abdelalih Benkirane, the President of the House of Councillors, Mr. Hakim Benchamach, several members of the Government and the President of CGEM, Mrs. Miriem Bensaleh-CHAQROUN. This event was also attended by a large number of members of Parliament, politicians, academics, diplomats, trade unionists, businessmen and representatives of international organizations.

The opening speeches were an opportunity to recall the achievements of Morocco for over 15 years, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, through major progress in economic, infrastructural and human developments.

In his speech, the Head of Government, Mr. Abdelalih Benkirane, noted the relationship between the development model of Morocco, political stability and security. He thus stated that Morocco is the only Arab country to have managed to maintain successfully stability, security and respect for human rights.

The Head of Government also emphasized the need to release and consolidate finances in order to fund new projects and develop new economic sectors.

On the other hand, Mr. Fouzi Lekjea, President of the “AMIF”, stated that the international financial and economic crisis in many economies proved that there is no development model that can be used in all countries and at any time. He thus stressed that the international economic crisis highlighted that any development model cannot be achieved without considering the international situation and its impact on the global economy.

The President of the “AMIF” believes that the knowledge-based economy is also a basic lever of any development model based on the human component as a key factor.

On the other hand, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, stressed that this conference which brings together the Government, national and international institutions as well as civil society and experts in various areas, will allow initiate a rich national debate about the status and prospects of our business model and issue functional recommendations.

The Minister stated that the main objective of any development model is to establish favorable living conditions for citizens.

It should be noted that the first panel programmed at the symposium focused on the condition of the Moroccan development model. It was attended by several personalities including Ministers, banking representatives and experts from international institutions.

​ Participants focused on the review of the strengths of the Moroccan experience, namely the determination and pragmatism of the public policies in terms of infrastructure as well as the macroeconomic, sector- based and social policies to meet basic needs of people and the fight against poverty and social and spatial inequalities. This panel was also an opportunity to examine the weaknesses and the imbalances that hamper the greater development of Morocco in particular in terms of the competitiveness of human resources, employment and social policies.
