Participation of the Minister of Economy and Finance, at the 2016 Development Committee meetings of the (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington

Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, in his capacity as Governor of the World Bank for Morocco headed a large delegation, to attend the meetings of the joint World Bank-(IMF) Development Committee, held from April 14th to 17th 2016 in Washington.

On this occasion, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID was received by Mr. Jim KIM, President of the World Bank.

At this meeting, the two sides welcomed the excellent cooperation relations between Morocco and the World Bank, evident in the volume and quality of reforms and support investment programs of the Bank in our country.

The Minister of Economy and Finance highlighted the important progress on the political, economic and social areas, that Morocco implemented as part of its development model under the High guidance of His Majesty the King.

In terms of environmental protection and sustainable development, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID stated that the fact that Morocco was designated to host of the next United Nations Climate Conference (COP 22) translates the international community’s recognition of the efforts of the Kingdom in the field.

The President of the World Bank, who confirmed his participation at COP 22 meeting, indicated the willingness of the Bank to support the efforts of the Kingdom in organizing this important event.

The Minister of Economy and Finance also took part in the meeting of the IMF Managing Director with the finance ministers and central bank governors of the MENA region.

Similarly, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID held bilateral meetings with representatives of the World Bank and IMF to discuss various aspects of cooperation with these two institutions.

The Minister of Economy and Finance participated also at the meeting related to the Paris agreement on climate change as well as the stakeholders of the gender approach.

During his visit, the Minister of Economy and Finance attended the plenary session of the Development Committee of the (IMF) and the (WB). The theme of this session addresses forced displacement and development.
