This event was attended by Mr. Faouzi LEKJAA, President of the members of the General Inspectorate of Finance Association (AMIF) and Mr. Abdelali EL BERRIA, Acting Inspector General of Finance.

The meeting, held at the request of the Minister of Economy and Finance during the hearing devoted to the officers of the newly elected AMIF office members, was mainly dedicated to the review of the situation of the IGF.

During this meeting, the President of the AMIF stressed the need to re-establish the institution inside the Ministry of Economy and Finance and allow it to be more involved in the implementation of reforms including the Organic Law on the Finance Acts. Moreover, he asked for the support of the two Ministers to improve and strengthen the means to implement the tasks assigned to the IGF.

In his speech, the Acting Inspector General of Finance highlighted the results and prospects of the IGF, the main achievements of the institutional twinning with the Inspectorate General of Finance of France and Portugal as well as the plan of the IGF workload that continues to increase, inevitably requiring more staff inspectors.  In addition, account must be taken of the new missions assigned to the IGF under the organic laws on the Finance Acts, to local authorities as well as the implementation of the national strategy against corruption.

The Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget highlighted in his speech the quality, rigor and professionalism of the work of women and men working within this institution. At the same time, the Minister Delegate urged the AMIF to provide recommendations to contribute steadily to the enhancement of public debate on key issues affecting Morocco.

In his speech, the Minister of Economy and Finance specified the role of the IGF as an institution that was involved, for over half a century, in the preservation of public funds, the effective management of the public sector and the swarming of integrity and ethical values as well as its involvement in the reforms’ process including those on financial governance.

He has also expressed his full satisfaction of the work of the finance inspectors who have always responded to all the requests with diligence, professionalism and confidentiality. The Minister reiterated his desire to reestablish the AMIF so as to be a real "think tank" of the Ministry of Economy and Finance through addressing economic and financial issues.

To meet these challenges, The Minister referred to the necessary steps to be taken to motivate the inspectors of finance, improve their operating conditions and enhance the IGF's staffing to allow them to respond to the new deadlines.
