Mr. Mohamed BOUSSAID and the European Commissioner in charge of climate and energy Action sign an agreement for the program (IFMEREE)

Mr. Mohamed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Khalid Berjaoui, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, and Mr. Miguel Arias Canete, European Commissioner for climate and energy Action, signed Monday, October 12th, 2015 in Rabat, an agreement for financing the "Institute of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Training Jobs“(IFMEREE).
This program amounting to 284 million dirhams, of which more than 109 million dirhams EU contribution, is part of the Partnership Agreement, signed May 31st, 2011 under the chairmanship of HM King Mohammed VI, between the State and professionals in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector.
It involves the construction of training and accommodation infrastructure home for three vocational training institutes located in Oujda, Tangier and Ouarzazate. The project also provides equipment and technical assistance for the development of programs, training of trainers and stuff as well as the implementation of programs.
Ultimately, the program must be able to establish a network of modern and flexible training centers with a capacity of one thousand trainees a year as well as the development of quality training opportunities in six sectors that ca meet the needs of the business community in the renewable energy sector (wind technician operation and maintenance of solar, thermal and photovoltaic equipment, thermodynamic solar power, energy efficiency and biogas fields).
This initiative is also part of the strategic vision for the energy which includes strengthening the capacity of electricity production and the development of energy efficiency. It is in line with other ongoing EU support to the sector of training and energy, such as the program "sector-based Support to Employment-SME", "Successfully complete the advanced status" and "Support to the Energy Sector Reform”.
It will be noted in this respect that this agreement was signed on the sidelines of the International Forum on the national contributions of the countries under the Framework Convention on Climate Change (INDC) whose works opened Monday, October 12th, 2015 in Rabat.
