On this occasion, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID participated in the official opening ceremony of the (AfDB) Annual Meetings, held Tuesday, May 26th, 2015.
At the first plenary session of the Assembly, the Board of Governors reviewed and approved the (AfDB) reports and activities during 2014 as well as the financial statements of the institution.
The Minister took part in the meeting organized by the (AfDB) President with the Governors of the institution and which focused on the achievements and challenges in the Bank’s year Strategy 2013-2022 and this after two years of its implementation.
It should be recalled that this ten- year Strategy, approved in 2013, focuses on two objectives for inclusive growth and the gradual transition to green growth, which are reinforced by five operational priorities: infrastructure development, regional economic integration, private sector development, governance and accountability, and skills and technology.
It should be noted, in this regard, that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohamed VI, made a commitment to South-South cooperation. The Kingdom of Morocco, which contributes actively to the emergence of Africa, set human development in Africa and the development of economic relations between African countries as a key priority of bilateral partnership.
For His Majesty, these relationships should be based on efficiency, performance and credibility so that African people benefit in priority from the wealth of Africa.
The Annual Meetings this year will be characterized by the organization Thursday, May 28th, 2015, of the elections of the President of the (AfDB Group). Thus, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID took part in the dialogue of Governors with the candidates for the election of the President of the (AfDB) who put forward their respective views for the position of President of the (AfDB).
In addition to these Annual Meetings, the Minister participated in the Forum of the (AfDB) 50th Anniversary. The celebration of this anniversary was an opportunity to highlight the role of the (AfDB) as the first African development finance institution in Africa, whose mission is to mobilize resources to support the economic
and social development of its 54 regional member countries, by promoting a sustainable and inclusive growth.
The Minister also met a delegation of the rating agency S & P with which he discussed the institution’s relations with Morocco as well as the performance of the Moroccan economy over the past years.
Moreover, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID signed May 27th, 2015, with the (AfDB) the letter of agreement on donation regarding technical support program for the promotion of inclusive and green growth in Morocco. The objective of this project is to promote inclusive and green growth in Morocco to support sustainable development and ensure better adaptation to climate change.
On the occasion of this event, the Minister plans to meet with his African counterparts to discuss issues of common interest and ways and means to strengthen relations between Morocco and African countries.
