Gender Responsive Budgeting through the prism of human rights : a major perspective for post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals

As part of the second edition of the World Human Rights Forum, the Gender Responsive Budgeting Center of Excellence of the Ministry of Finance, Morocco organizes a high level workshop on Gender Sensitive Budgeting on Saturday 29th November 2014 in Marrakech.

The organization of this special event comes in the wake of the adoption by our country of the new organic law related to the financial law which reflects the gains of the Moroccan experience in GRB, an experience that is well recognized at the international level. The Ministry of Economy and Finance has therefore been given the price of excellence for the public service in 2014 by the United Nations commission of experts on public service and was designated as an active member of the gender equality community of practice for Finance Ministers launched by the World Bank in April 2014, Washington DC.

This event aims to enrich current thinking on the ways to get out of crisis and beyond on rebuilding development models for better equity, sustainability, inclusiveness and respect of human rights. In this context, GRB through the prism of human rights takes its entire place, through its instrumental and operational dimensions, and through building public policies oriented towards effective enjoyment of human rights for different generations without distinction and within participatory democracy that respects human dignity.

Experts concerned by the issue and representing global, regional and national organizations will participate to this event such as the United Nations’ System (UN women, UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA…), donors and national and multilateral organizations (the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, OECD, ECA, the African Development Bank, MCI, the French Development Agency, the European Union…) as well as GRB practitioners from public institutions of different continents and representatives of national and international NGOs and human rights stakeholders.

It’s a unique opportunity of dialogue and exchange between human rights movements, United Nations’ System, donors, government representatives and NGO on the fundamental issue of sustainable and equitable development.
