Handover Ceremony between Mr. Mohamed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, and his predecessor, Mr. Aziz AKHANNOUCH, outgoing Acting Minister

​Following the appointment by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Thursday, October 
10th 2013, Mr. Mohamed Boussaid as Minister of Economy and Finance, a handover 
ceremony between Mr. Mohamed Boussaid and Mr. Aziz Akhanouch, outgoing acting 
Minister took place at the headquarters of the MEF in the presence of officials 
of the Department. 

During his speech, the Minister of Economy and Finance was proud ofHis Majesty's trust in him and paid tribute to Mr. Nizar Baraka for the effort s made these last two years when he was Minister of Economy and Finance. He, at the same time, thanked Mr. Aziz Akhanouch for his commitment and support to the officials of the MEF when he served as Acting Minister of Economy and Finance.

Addressing the MEF officials, Mr. Boussaid stated that this Department is full of skills and competent officials and stressed the MEF's role in supporting Morocco's major projects. He, therefore, affirmed that significant challenges await the Ministry to promote the national economy and strengthen public finances.

Mr. Boussaid also called on officials to further develop team spirit and cohesion within the MEF and stressed the importance of speed in decision-making to meet the challenges.

For his part, Mr. Driss El Azami El Idrissi was proud of His Majesty's renewed confidence in him. He congratulated, on this occasion, Mr. Boussaid for his appointment as Minister of the MEF.

Mr. El Azami, who highlighted the difficult conditions of the Moroccan economy over the last twenty months, welcomed the commitment of officials and executives to overcome these difficulties. He, in addition, affirmed that the appointment of the new government must be seen as a new beginning for a general mobilization in the MEF. The Deputy Minister also insisted on maintaining team spirit, the spirit of commitment and rapid decision-support.

In his speech, Mr. Akhanouch wished success to Mr. Boussaid in his new role and called the officials and executives of the MEF to give him all the necessary support.

Finally, Mr. Khalid Safir, the Secretary General of the MEF, congratulated Mr. Boussaid and Mr. El Azami and thanked Mr. Akhanouch for the efforts he has made during the period of his acting appointment in the MEF which he described as rich in terms of decision making and management.​
