Mr. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Economy and Finance, together with Mrs Cecilia AKINTOMIDE, Vice President and Secretary General of the African Development Bank (ADB), signed Monday, June 25th 2012 at the headquarters of his department, a Memorandum of Understanding governing the Annual Meetings which will take place in Marrakech in May 2013.

The ADB`s Annual Meetings bring together more than 2000 people, with the participation of African Ministers of Economy and Finance, Central Bank Governors and representatives of countries of three continents (America, Europe and Asia) and representatives of several regional and international financial organizations.

In this context, the Minister of Economy and Finance reiterated Morocco`s decision to host the Annual Meetings of the ADB Group in May 2013 in Marrakech and reaffirmed the commitment of Morocco to take the necessary steps to ensure that the Annual Meetings of Marrakech in 2013 progresses smoothly and successfully.

Mr. Nizar Baraka stated within this framework that these meetings, like the previous Annual Meetings held in other member countries of the ADB, will be an opportunity to discuss issues of common interest for Africa and that are in line with the ADB`s policy over the next decade such as inclusive growth, the promotion of renewable energy to ensure a green growth, youth employment ... etc.

The Minister of Economy and Finance also highlighted the excellent relations of cooperation between Morocco and the ADB. This can be seen in ADB`s reform and investment programs and the large amounts lent to our country making Morocco the first beneficiary of this institution`s lendings.
