Launch of the Moroccan Code for good governance practices in Public enterprises and institutions

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nizar Baraka and the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of General Affairs and Governance, Mr. Mohamed Najib Boulif, headed, Wednesday, March 21st 2012, with the participation of the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Mr. Mohamed Horani, a meeting devoted to the official Launch of the Moroccan Code for good governance practices in Public enterprises and institutions.  


    The launch of this Code takes action in accordance with the principle set up by the new Moroccan Constitution correlating responsibility and accountability and also in relation to the Government`s program of providing a new level of good governance in Public enterprises and institutions and strengthening their role in the economic and social development process of the country.

The aim of this Code is to ensure a transparent and accountable management of public institutions and enterprises to guarantee the reliability, integrity and effectiveness of these entities by ensuring accountability as well as the transparency of decision making process in order to meet stakeholders? expectations and aspirations.

The implementation of this Code will be carried out through a strong involvement of Governance Bodies in Public Institutions, line ministries and stakeholders. Similarly, extension activities, awareness-raising and training at national and local levels will be carried out to better implement the Code.

For this purpose, the Head of Government sent, March19th, a circular to members of the Government as well as the Chief Executive Officers, Directors General and Directors of Public enterprises and Institutions, urging them to generalize and implement the contents of this Code.

This Code was developed by a working group from the National Governance Commission, led by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Department of Public Enterprises and Privatization), and involving many institutional actors and Public enterprises and Institutions` sector.
