Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Economy and Finance received, Monday, February 14th 2011 at the Ministry, Mr. CHEN Deming, Minister of Commerce of the People`s Republic of China who is on a working visit to Morocco at the head of a large delegation made up of senior Chinese officials.
During this meeting, Mr. CHEN and Mr. MEZOUAR gave a status report on economic cooperation between the two countries. They welcomed the friendly relations and cooperation between Morocco and China and the willingness of both countries to strengthen these links in order to reach the level of excellent political relations existing between the two countries.
While stressing the importance of the potential of both countries to develop economic cooperation, trade and finance, the two Ministers discussed the ways and means to exploit this potential, deepen and further diversify these relations of cooperation.
Mr. MEZOUAR and Mr. CHEN expressed their satisfaction with the interest of the Chinese and Moroccan economic operators in the development of trade flows and investment between the two countries. They hoped that these operators intensify their efforts to further develop their partnership relations by exploring opportunities in various economic sectors in both countries.
Following this meeting, the two Ministers headed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Mr.Othmane Fassi Fehri, CEO of the National Company of Motorways in Morocco and Mr. Zhu Hongjie, Vice-President of the Export-Import Bank of China to finance the Beni Mellal Berrechid motorway for an amount of $ 248 million (2MMDH).
