Signing of Moroccan-German Technical Cooperation agreement

Mr. Salaheddine MEZOUAR, Minister of Economy and Finance and Mr. Ulf-Dieter KLEMM, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rabat signed Wednesday, February 24th, 2010, at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Technical Moroccan-German Cooperation agreement. Mr. MEZOUAR welcomed the allocation of grants of 15 million euros for the financing of staff and equipment charges in addition to contributions for the implementation of projects and programs of technical cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, fight against desertification, renewable energy promotion and energy efficiency as well as support to micro, small and medium enterprises.

Then, Mr. MEZOUAR called for the strengthening of financial and technical cooperation for the period 2010-2011 through a substantial increase of the budget granted to Morocco and this, in view of the forthcoming intergovernmental Moroccan-German negotiations.

For his part, Mr. KLEMM expressed the interest of the German authorities in cooperation and partnership with Morocco.

Mr. MEZOUAR and Mr. KLEMM welcomed the excellent cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Germany and reaffirmed their willingness to further develop and strengthen links between the two countries.
