On Thursday May 28th, 2009, Mr. Salah Eddine MEZOUAR, Minister of Economy and Finance, received at the Ministry`s headquarters in Rabat Mr. Donald KABERUKA, President Of the African Development Bank, who is on a visit to Morocco.

Mr. MEZOUAR and Mr KABERUKA reviewed the financial cooperation between Morocco and ADB. Both expressed their satisfaction with the excellent relations and reaffirmed their determination to develop this cooperation further.

The meeting was an opportunity to examine the challenges facing the African continent, especially the present international economic crisis and its impact on African economies. They also discussed possible means and mechanisms to face such a challenge.

Since its first operation in Morocco in 1970, ADB has financed several operations, worth $ 7 billion, making Morocco the leading beneficiary of this institution. ADB is presently one of Morocco`s major lenders.

ADB has so far financed operations related to financing structural and sector-based reforms, and investment projects in the sectors of transportation, finance, agriculture, water and sanitation, energy, health, education, industry and communication.
