The Ministry of Tourism and Handicraft launched " Cap 2009 " Plan last October. It aims at setting up measures to anticipate the impact of the world economic crisis on the sector, particularly on investment.
To this effect, a first meeting was held on February 10th, 2008 at the headquarter of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and co-chaired by Mr. Salaheddine MEZOUAR, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Tourism and Handicraft. Representatives from Bank Almaghreb, GPBM, CGEM, prominent financial institutions, tourism investment funds, Pension Fund, and professionals from the sector attended the meeting.
The meeting was an opportunity to give an overview on the progress of "Vision 2010" project, the involvement of financial institutions in the financing of tourism projects. Development perspectives for tourism products and the financial stakes involved were also issues raised and discussed.
This meeting was also an opportunity to debate the financial levers likely to boost financing policy in the tourism sector.
Special tribute was paid to the national banking sector for its assistance to the tourism sector, and for providing funding facilities especially dedicated to financing projects related to tourism.
