The signing ceremony, held on the sidelines of “GITEX Future Health Africa,” was marked by the participation of Mr. Amine TAHRAOUI, Minister of Health and Social Protection.

In his speech on this occasion, Mr. BCHIR emphasized that the signing of this agreement between the Kingdom of Morocco and Gavi is part of a spirit of shared responsibility and active solidarity, reflecting Morocco’s commitment, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, to vaccine equity and the strengthening of health systems. In this regard, he highlighted the role of Gavi as a trusted partner and a major actor in global health, recalling the significant results achieved since its creation, particularly in terms of vaccination and the reduction of child mortality.

Mr. BCHIR also indicated that Morocco’s financial contribution to Gavi is part of the momentum of national reforms, particularly the generalization of social protection and the modernization of the health system, while stressing the need for collective responses to global health challenges.

Finally, Mr. BCHIR specified that this agreement goes beyond the framework of a simple financial instrument and reflects a shared willingness to establish this partnership over the long term, through constructive dialogue and concrete results.

For his part, Mr. GILLSATER expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan authorities for their contribution, noting that Morocco becomes the first country in North Africa to provide financial support to the Alliance.

Mr. GILLSATER stated that this commitment reflects a strategic vision that considers investment in vaccination as a lever for stability, prosperity, and development for the African continent. He also praised Morocco’s performance in terms of vaccination coverage, highlighting the national experience as a model that can be shared with other African countries.
