Madam Nadia FETTAH meets with Mr. Cheick-Oumar SYLLA, Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa at IFC

Madam Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, held, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, a working meeting with Mr. Cheick-Oumar Sylla, Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), who is conducting a working visit to Morocco from March 9 to 13, 2026.

​During this meeting, Madam FETTAH and Mr. Sylla welcomed the quality of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the IFC, while discussing ways and means to further strengthen it in a regional and international context marked by challenges and uncertainties.

The discussions focused, in particular, on the IFC’s support for the reform efforts undertaken by the Kingdom, in accordance with the High Royal Orientations, aimed at promoting the role of the national private sector as a driver of growth and job creation.

In this regard, Madam FETTAH called on the IFC to further support the economic momentum experienced by the Kingdom in order to accompany investors, both national and foreign, in materializing the investment opportunities offered by the Moroccan economy, particularly in the fields of water management, energy, and gas.

The Minister also emphasized that strengthening the IFC’s engagement would also be relevant in areas such as the reform of Public Enterprises and Establishments, support for MSMEs, and access to financing, particularly within the framework of an integrated and inclusive territorial development approach.


For his part, the Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa welcomed the quality of the cooperative relations between the IFC and Morocco and highlighted the IFC’s willingness to strengthen its partnership with our country.

Mr. Sylla indicated, in this regard, that the IFC’s strategy for Morocco will be aligned with the new Country Partnership Framework 2026–2035 between Morocco and the World Bank Group, in order to reflect the main focus of this institution, namely supporting the Moroccan private sector as a driver of innovation and job creation
