Madam Minister received, Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the headquarters of the Department her Excellency Mrs. Dubravka Šuica, European Union Commissioner for the Mediterranean, accompanied by Mr. Dimiter Tzantchev, the new Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Morocco, as well as a high-level delegation from the European Commission.
This first official visit of Mrs. Šuica to Morocco took place on the sidelines of the High-Level Retreat on the Future of Euro-Mediterranean Relations, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.
During this meeting, Her Excellency the Minister congratulated Mrs. Šuica on her appointment as the new Commissioner for the Mediterranean, whose mandate letter emphasizes the strengthening of the European Union’s partnership with its wider Southern Neighbourhood, including the Middle East. Her Excellency the Minister also commended the initiative of the European Commission to appoint a Commissioner specifically dedicated to the Mediterranean region.
For her part, Mrs. Šuica presented the new initiative of the European Commission entitled “New Pact for the Mediterranean”, which will be adopted next November on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Declaration and the launch of the Barcelona Process.
Her Excellency the Minister, for her part, called for stronger mobilization of bilateral and international donors, particularly Europeans, in financing and implementing structuring projects at the regional level, and in Morocco in particular, to be selected within the framework of this new Pact.
