Mr. Fouzi LEKJAA, Minister Delegate in Charge of the Budget, today received in Rabat Mr. Makhtar Diop, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This meeting took place within the framework of high-level discussions aimed at supporting large-scale projects related to Morocco’s organization of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
The talks focused on the IFC’s potential financial and technical support for major projects linked to this global event, particularly in the areas of sports infrastructure, connectivity, urban logistics, green transition, and the development of the national and regional private sector.
On this occasion, the Minister recalled the Kingdom of Morocco’s strong commitment, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God Assist Him, to make the 2030 World Cup a strategic lever for economic transformation, territorial cohesion, and international influence.
Mr. Makhtar Diop praised the Kingdom’s commitment to the preparation of this global event and reaffirmed the IFC’s full readiness to support catalytic projects related to the World Cup, in coordination with national institutions and international partners.
The IFC Vice President also expressed his support for all public and private initiatives aimed at positioning sport as a driver of economic and social development.
This meeting is part of the dynamic of accelerating strategic partnerships around the 2030 World Cup, a historic event that Morocco intends to embed as a lasting catalyst for investment, innovation, and sustainable development.
