Mr. Fouzi LEKJAA, Minister Delegate for the Budget, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) alongside Mr. David Lammy, British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, to formalize the United Kingdom’s support for the organization of the 2030 World Cup.

The ceremony took place at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, in the presence of senior officials from both parties. This agreement marks a new milestone in the bilateral cooperation dynamic in the fields of sports, infrastructure, and economic development. It aligns with the enlightened vision of his majesty king Mohammed VI, may God assist him, who has positioned sports as a key driver of influence, openness, and sustainable development.

Through this Memorandum, the United Kingdom expresses its commitment to mobilizing its technical expertise, business ecosystem, and support capabilities to contribute to the success of this large-scale project. Both parties have agreed to work closely together on a range of initiatives, particularly regarding stadiums, transport infrastructure, and services related to the management of international events.

This mutual commitment reflects a shared ambition: to make the 2030 World Cup a success on sporting, logistical, and human levels—one that brings economic opportunities and fosters lasting partnerships, while upholding the universal values of solidarity, excellence, and inclusion.
